Because It Was Her Favorite Christmas Song, Because It Was The Prayer That Gave Her Strength In Life...

In Memory Of My Mother
Margaret Mae Dineen Tyson
Born
7/21/1926-Died 12/13/2009

Silent Night

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth "

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

My mother was a lifelong devout Catholic. At the end of her life she saw Mary sitting on the bed holding her hand. I see no reason to doubt these visions and miracles. Death is a holy mystery, and I offer this song and this prayer up to my mother, whom I love with all my heart, now, and at the hour of her death. Amen.

Oh Maitri, I remember when my mother passed and I feel for you. You will so miss her physical presence on earth. But in some ways this is a relief because you knew she was ready for it, and her suffering is ended so you don't have to worry about it any more. Thinking of you this Christmas.

My sincere and deepest condolences for the loss of your loving mum and pray that you are doing ok there even without her around. As you mentioned in your writing you will watch the the twinkling stars, perhaps among the stars will be her winking at you from above to look upon you dearest Maitri.

Thank you for your kind words on my site. You know, I followed the story of your mom and at times it was so hard for me to read - particularly towards the end - because it reminded me so much of my grandmother's last weeks. It is so hard to watch someone so beloved prepare to leave this world. I think one of the greatest things that makes it bearable is knowing that they were women of faith.

God Bless!

What a great tribute. I pray that you are surrounded by God's comforting arms this Christmas season and that you are overwhelmed with love, comfort, and joy be those around you.

It reminds me that this is the first Christmas without my father-in-law. He passed away in April 2009. BIG HUGS!!!

Oh how marvelous, for her to have had that vision of Mary being there with her at the end of this life (and the beginning of her next life).

Thank you dear Maitri, I greatly enjoyed these words. I never heard them in English because I am Lithuanian. Thus your text expanded the message over my heart. Merry Christmas!

Maitri - I've been reading about your mother's long end of life stretch. I know she was ready to go, but that doesn't necessarily make her loss any easier. I'm thinking of you.

Dear Maitri,
I am catching up and so just now read of your mother's passing. You have my love and sympathy at this time. And I thank you for posting my own mother's favorite Christmas song. She was also a Margaret (but born in 1915) and I lost her in Oct. 2000. She told me during the end that she could feel her mother's hand holding hers...and I thought of that when I read that your mother saw Mary. Your comments about it all were beautiful and lucid and mean the world to me during this season of love.

God bless Maitri, and big hugs to you!
